Music of the Moment Jan.2015 || Lechuga
Heyyo fellow blog readers!
This week's theme is music of the moment and boy am I so happy to write about this! I've been listening to a few albums recently and I'd love to share my favorite songs with you.
Keep in mind though that while I love most all music, I tend to lean on the poppier side of sound. Pop music is my kind of music...and some soul. La Bigsis loves to describe my musical sound as "poppy-soul". How cool a name would be for a band by the way? Poppy soul. I'd listen to them. Anyways, back to the point--music!
Before/during the holiday season everyone was talking about Taylor Swift's new album--about how she switched to pop and how ah-mazing this new album was to be. Now normally, I wouldn't stress about getting someone's album unless I really loved them and wanted to support them in this music industry shiznit butttttt because Miss Swift is so extra on who gets to listen to her music, buying her album would be the only way I could listen to her music, which--side tangent: it's not like she's losing a significant amount that she won't be able to afford her luxurious apartment in Tribeca or nada like that so I don't understand why she couldn't at the very least keep her music on Spotify but at the end of the day it is her music and she can do whatever she wants with it and anyways I guess she's smart for doing it because look at me--I'm only recently becoming more of a fan and I got her album so kudos to her I guess she knows what she's doing but anyyyyways--Our cousins's got me the album for Christmas (Bless them!) and it is AMAZING! I knew I would like her new songs after Shake It Off came out and my thoughts were confirmed when Blank Space came out as well. Even though Shake It Off doesn't completely vibe with the rest of her songs on the album, I still love it. One of my best friend's, Courtney, said "Shake it off is like the Steal my girl (One Direction) of her album,"--it's good, but it's not a good telling of what the rest of album will be like. I agree with that.
My three favorite songs off her album (excluding Shake it off and Blank Space) are:
- All You Had To Do Was Stay
- Style
- I Know Places
I could literally jam to these songs all day. Now, I don't have the Deluxe version of the album so these are my favorite songs of the songs I have. I have to get the Deluxe songs still. Still, there's about four songs I don't really listen to but the other nine I know pretty well.
Seriously this album has me fawning over Taylor Swift. I've always sung her mainstream songs, but I've never felt the need or desire to get her album and learn her songs until now. I love that she switched to pop--not that her country wasn't doing well but this is more my sound. Also, did any of you watch her Christmas giving back videos? Because I did and I sobbed my little eyes out. She's so sweet. And this is only related because it has to do with Taylor Swift but I was fortunate enough to see her perform live at the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden this year and she was incredible then, too! She sings live very well!
So If you're unsure about getting her album I say--GET IT! GET IT RIGHT NOW (if you can), otherwise ask a friend who has surely gotten the album, because you need to be on the
Okay until next time folks,
Laytah!!
