#LechugaTravels
Heyyo fellow blog readers!
So if any of you follow us on Twitter and/or Instagram then you'll know that I, the youngest of this duo, have traveled to Europe for a study abroad program our school calls: Discover the World (it's five weeks in three countries, Italy, Spain, and France).
(My father took this picture).
I departed from Dulles Airport in Virginia at 5:15pm. It was so unreal. As usual, I got stopped at the security check--I almost always get stopped. This time, I forgot to take my laptop out of my carry-on so the man had to inspect it. He was nice. He told me how he never went to college, and I told that it's never too late if he wants to. He said he will.
The Dulles Airport is a bit different from how I last remembered it. I don't recall it being so...spaced out yet tiny. If that makes sense. Anyways, I got to my gate (where I saw a cutie by the way), and I boarded my flight (to Munich). I vlogged a little on the airplane (at la Bigsis's request) and the man next to me laughed a little and we proceeded to have a short conversation:
Man: Capturing the moment?
Me: Yes, exactly. :)
Man: Where are you from?
Me: Do you mean state-wise or country?
Man: Yes.
R's Diary
Me: ...yes to which?
Man: *laughs* both.
Man: *laughs* both.
I tell him I'm from Northern Virginia, my parents are from Bolivia, and that I'm studying abroad.

Man: Oh that's great, good for you! I'm going on a business trip...and I'm from Kentucky.
Me: Oh cool like Josh Hutcherson!
Man: ...
Conversation Over.
I really envied this man's ability to sleep, because whilst I hadn't slept well the past two days I was suddenly unable to sleep. It was quite tragic. On the bright side I got to watch the Maze Runner, which by the way can someone explain this movie to me? I didn't really understand the point. I didn't hate the film but I didn't love it either. Dylan O'Brien was great though.
Anyyyways, in Munich I Skyped la Bigsis and our mother from a Cafe where I ate a little something.
Ham&Cheese Croissant with Hot Chocolate
It was very well deserved and honestly the only reason I'm living right now.
After Skyping home for almost an hour I let them sleep and I watched a few YouTube videos before venturing off to find my gate. This flight from Munich to Rome though was a sick joke. I was so sleepy and dehydrated that as soon as we took off I downed the apple juice from the flight attendant and I passed out. Being woken up by the flight attendant slightly put me off but hey iz okay.
I waited for everyone to get off the airplane before getting off myself. (I will never understand the mad dash out.) Anyways, I asked a man with the blue-ist eyes I've ever seen where the baggage claim was and he directed me where need be. (After complimenting his eyes of course). I got my luggage and went to ask where terminal 3 was, the man told me, "take a step to the left." A very confused me did as I was told and he said, "you're there!" After that he exchanged me some Euros and I was off to find my school people. Luckily two twins arrived after me and we split a cab to school. Unfortunately I don't know when I'll see them again or hangout with them as they are in the Rome semester program...which totally sucks because they were chill and I totally get the sister thing. Oh well.
After getting my key I actually ran into my roommate(s) on the elevator and they showed me where our room would be (it's at the corner of Narnia it takes so long to get there), but at least it's next to the bathroom. Also the RAs left us little goodie bags on our desks which was kind of them.
This is what was inside, and no don't worry the water bottle wasn't given to me half empty,
I just could resist quenching my thirst.
Funnily enough my roommates and i all have nose piercings. They seem like people who wanna have fun, which is good because I need to get out of my comfort zone, but more importantly so far they've seemed keen (and kind) on including me, which was one of my fears--being isolated. Not because I don't like being alone, but because I don't want to make memories on my own. I want to meet new people and make memories together.
We accidentally slept through the Welcome Pizza Gathering they organized but at least I've unpacked! My roommates are currently asleep but I'd like to end with some feelings.
Feelings:
I was less scared while traveling than I thought I would be. It felt good to be traveling, and going alone. Upon my arrival in Munich where everything was in German and i didn't know where to go or where to exchange money however I completely regretted coming, but once I landed in Rome I was like, "This is happening. This happened! What am I doing?!" And I'm really scared I'll revert back to my shyly ways but I'm hoping I won't. Weekly vlogging will be a little weird/off at first, because I need to get used to bringing out the camera whenever IIII want and not worrying what others think but I know I can get there. My goal whilst here is to be an outgoing drunk with a sober mind. (I tweeted that a few days heh). Well I'm sorry if this was super long I just wanted to write everything down not just in my travel journal but on here as well so if any of you are going to travel or would like to or are curious how one might feel here's how I felt and how my journey. I'm thinking I'm going to try daily blogging with the weekly vlogs so in case you're curious and want to know more than just what we put in the week video you can come read about it. I'll make sure to take more photographs, too!
Okie doke lovely folkies until the next post!
Laytah!
